Outlander

The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord...1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
I got this book as a birthday gift. It's huge ( 863 pages ) but totally worth it. I love it!
After walking through a circle of standing stones and vanishing into 1743, the first person who Claire met was a British army officer, her husband's six-times great-grandfather.
Unfortunately, Black Jack Randall is not the man his descendant is, and while trying to escape him, Claire falls into the hands of a gang of scottish outlaws, and finds her self an outlander in danger from both Jacobites and \Redcoats. Cool.
Her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives. Cooler.
I fell in love with this book from the beginning. It's amazing.
It's written from Claire's perspective.
I never read a story about time travelling so maybe that's why I loved this book a lot. I feel sorry for Claire's husband ( he didn't appear a lot ) but I ship Claire with Jamie. They are meant to be.
What I mostly loved about this book is that 2 persons from different time, cultures and habits fell in love. Love has no boundaries.
I know that it's bad for a married woman with a loyal husband to fell in love with another man but this is what made the story interesting. I'm really excited to see what Claire will do in this situation.
And what I'm more excited about is how will Claire go back to her real time.
The ending will leave you with a cliffhanger so be prepared.
This series has already 8 huge published books so prepare yourself for a long journey!
I hope you will enjoy it!
